SLJ Week 1 Activity 1

LI:To collect materials needed to successfully complete our weekly superpower building missions with Nano Girl.

This morning room 5 worked in groups with our Year 7 and 8 students so they can help us with our first Summer Learning Journey blog posts. PBS are still at school this week so finding some of the materials we needed for our treasure hunt was easy. Our challenge is going to be able to find all the materials we need at home now. I found this activity fun because it fun looking around my house for things I needed. I am looking forward to the next experiment with Nano Girl.
Do you know what it's going to make?

My name is Renee and I’m from the Summer Learning Journey Team. Ka pai on your blogpost, you did a fantastic job recording yourself using Screencastify and finding so many items in your scavenger hunt. I noticed that you made your own tube out of rolled-up paper, that is awesome and very resourceful of you. What items do you think might be challenging for you to find at your house in a scavenger hunt?

I am so happy to see that you have signed up to participate in the Summer Learning Journey! Thank for commenting on my blog post. The ruler and the string were the hardest to find. My friend Ong helped me to use Screencastify. I will submit the link and fill out the form. Are you excited for the summer?

That is so awesome that you were able to work together with your friend Ong to record yourself. Now you will be able to help other friends to use Screencastify as well. I am really excited for summer. I am most looking forward to swimming at the beach and spending time with my whanau. What are you most excited to do this summer?

Charlotte here from the Summer Learning Journey team.

Thank you for sharing this video of the items you collected for the Nano Girl experiments! It looks like you had a lot of fun. I also really like that you gave a written explanation under your Google Slide. It was really interesting to read that you worked with another class on this - what a great idea!

New Nano Girl activities will be posted every Monday, so make sure you keep an eye out! They will be fun and I can’t wait to see what you create.

    Keep up the great work!

    Ngā mihi,

    Charlotte

    1. Hello Charlotte,

Nano Girl is a scientist, so I think she is making a superpower that makes you smart or it could make you throw far. What do you think?

      Kind Regards
